I can't wait to see the finished copies. it would be nice to finally meet the author of the book. I really hope she will continue writing these stories so that we can keep illustrating them.

Alexandria Pauls

Hi. My name is Alex. My favorite things to do are cheerleading, swimming, biking and running. I'm in 6th grade and 11-years-old. Illustrating this book was a great experience. Doing the paintings was fun. At times doing the paintings was hard, but then it got easier. I thought the stories were good for children. It was fun to listen to the stories. My favorite story was Queen Anne's Lace. Now I feel really special to know my paintings are in a book. I can't wait until the book comes out. When the book comes out I will buy one. I would love to meet the author one day. It would be great. I would like to do this again.

I wish I could meet you while we're in Iowa for a feild trip. Thank you for letting us paint for you.

Joey DuRocher

Hi! My name is Joey DuRocher. I have been going to this school all my life. I love sports, stories, and shopping. Yes, I am a 13-year-old boy. At first I was very honored and excited about being part of your book. While we were painting I would feel very nervous. I wanted my paintings to be selected so I had a hard time doing my very best work. After a while it became easier and I became less nervous when painting. In the end, I was very glad to have done this. It was a great privilege to work for you. I hope that one day I will be able to meet you, the author. I am looking forward to seeing the finished book. I think your stories are very good and interesting.

Holly Beverley

To make the paintings, first we heard these amazing stories. Then we imagined what scene spoke to us the most. After that we sketched it out, then we painted. My name is Holly Beverly. I am 11-years-old. I love to paint, go shopping, listen to music, hang out with friends, and hang our with family, But I do gymnastics a lot. I feel like a famous illustrator having this wonderful opportunity to paint. When I heard that two of my paintings were in one of the books, I felt so special. I have not met the author yet but I would love to.

Shannon McCarthy

Hi. My name is Shannon. I like to horseback ride, Irish dance and play soccer. I also play the viola but sometimes I don't like to play it because you have to practice so much. I'm 12-years-old and in 6th grade at Four Winds Waldorf School. I was so excited when we were asked to illustrate a book. I was really worried that I was not good enough for my paintings to get selected. It sometimes was challenging for me to put the story into a picture. It was a great experience and I can't wait to see whose paintings have been selected. I feel really special that I got to do this.

Zac Page

I am 12-years-old and in 6th grade. I had fun painting the pictures for the books. I liked the story of Cattails and Bindweed. I felt very honored when the author kept giving me stories to paint about. I would really like to meet the author and I feel really honored and special to have illustrated the books.

Taryn OrdoƱez

Hi! My name is Taryn. I'm 13-years-old and I go to Four Winds Waldorf School. I live in Aurora, Illinois. I was born in Virginia and I'm 1/4 Phillipine. I've also been to six different countries. I liked illustrating a book because I think it is cool to see my paintings published. I felt excited when my teacher, Mrs. Power, told us we were going to illustrate children's books. I also felt challenged when Mrs. Power first told us about it. I was very surprised about how easy it was! The hard part was thinking of something to paint. I personally liked the story called "Chamomile". I think it would be fun to do more illustrations for books. Now that I know the book is coming out soon, I'm even more excited that I was before. I am so happy that my paintings were selected. I feel very special knowing that my paintings are in the books. I think it would be so totally awesome to meet the author!

Karim Kabbani

Hi, my name is Karim. I am 13-years-old and have three brothers. Their names are Ali, Adam, and baby Zak. Little Zak is so cute and is 1-year-old. When our teacher said that we would illustrate a book, I was like no way. I was scared and it consisted of me saying, "my paintings are going to be horrible." or, "what is she thinking about ME painting!" After I finished and got the most paintings in the class published in a book I almost fainted. It was a good experience and it improved my comprehension and understanding of the stories.

I really liked giving my paintings to the author and her giving money to the school. It also overwhlemed me when you thought my paintings were good. I hope one day I could do this again. My teacher fosters my awareness of doing my best and it worked. I look forward to meeting the author. She sounds like an interesting person and I love surprises.

Izzy Marcelo

Hi. My name is Izzy Marcelo. I am 13-years-old and in 7th grade. I have two brothers. I was born in New Jersey and came to Illinois when I was 2-years-old. I love to draw, paint, listen to music, play soccer, and dance. When our teacher told my class we would be illustrating a book I was amazed. Doing the paintings at first it was easier but towards the end it got harder to think of things to paint. When I heard we were getting paid I was shocked. Some of my paintings were not to the best of my ability. I did not have a favorite story. They were all good! Now that I know it is going to be published soon, it is very exciting to know that one or more of mine are in the book. I can not wait to see the finished book. It would also be very nice to meet the author.
